About Cultivation Lab: The Science and System of Growing

Hi, I’m Marcus, the creator and lead researcher behind Cultivation Lab.

My journey into serious cultivation started with a frustrating problem. Years ago, I built my first rudimentary Deep Water Culture (DWC) system. Like many beginners, I battled fluctuating pH levels, mysterious root rot, and conflicting advice from outdated forums. As I dug deeper, I realized the internet was full of generic gardening tips, but severely lacked a centralized, data-driven archive that covered both the hard science and the practical operations of modern growing.

That realization became the foundation of this website.

I started Cultivation Lab to cut through the noise and document exactly how these systems work—from the granular troubleshooting to the macro operations. Whether we are analyzing the economic feasibility of a commercial hydroponic setup, exploring the history and foundational mechanics of soilless agriculture, or figuring out the exact hardening-off process to transition a hydroponic basil plant into backyard soil, our philosophy remains the same: Everything must be practical, tested, and grounded in reality.

What You Will Find Here:

  • System Mechanics & History: Clear, objective breakdowns of how hydroponic towers, aeroponics, and traditional setups actually work.

  • Zero-Fluff Troubleshooting: Direct, parameter-based answers to specific plant diseases and nutrient lockouts.

  • Operational & Economic Guides: Honest analyses on the profitability, equipment costs, and day-to-day maintenance of growing systems.

I don’t claim to have a magical green thumb. I rely on observation, precise metrics, and a willingness to test theories. Whether you are a beginner wondering what an air stone does, or an advanced grower calculating commercial yields, you are in the right place.

Let’s grow smarter, not harder.
